It's a shame that I haven't ever done a post on SHINee, when I actually think of them as one of the most talented K-pop groups out there. But thankfully now I've got an excuse to feature them in my blog as their recent release "Symptoms" immediately captured my interest and I wanted to use it for my Melody of Lyrics series. The song is a slow jam piece with vocally powerful chorus and amazing emotions. And the lyrics were written by Jonghyun.
Thanks to the recent release of her third album and a lead role in the new drama Pretty Man, singer IU is featured in several magazines. In Céci, she looks graceful in lace while wearing a crown like a royalty. Meanwhile inElle, the atmoshpere is more casual as IU poses in a more playful manner. And lastly in InStyle magazine, IU's dressed in chic black with the overall feeling of careless elegance.
Big Bang members each get their own solo pictorials in different Korean magazines to promote their respective solo activities. T.O.P is featured in Cine 21 and W, looking like a sophisticated gentleman in both. Taeyang goes for a wilder effect in his edgy photoshoot for Elle. G-Dragon's pictorial for 1st Look shows him as the devoted artist as he is. And finally, Seungri takes on Esquire magazine, showing his confidence and sexy charisma.
So I'm a little bit late posting these pictorials of Jung Joon Young in 1st Look, Céciand Singles, but because I'm currently really crushing on him AND his amazing voice, I just had to put these up even though I've missed the right timing. But really, who cares about the timing when he looks this good on these pictures.
T.O.P is finally back! And he's back with this awesome song, which makes me so relieved. The music video, on the other hand, is...um...interesting, to say the least. My first thought about the video was that the person who came up with the idea must have been on crack at the time. Like really, the video is unique even by YG's standards. But it's also really entertaining because it's clear that none of it was meant to be taken very seriously. And that's good because I love seeing T.O.P playing around and making fun of himself.
So yeah. In short, there are only two things you need to know about the video:
A while back, I read an article by lovely Amanda at Outside Seoul on K-drama antiheroes, and I started thinking. Why do K-drama heroes tend to be such jerks? Why is is that the jerk always gets the girl? And why is that we always root for the said jerk? I can't promise you'll find answers to these questions here today, but I'm hoping that this post will help to us understand the typical K-drama jerk more as we try put ourselves in his shoes for a bit.
I've been lazy. I haven't done any Melody of Lyrics posts since August and I even haven't got a good excuse for it. But to make up for it, I have quite a lot of these posts lined up already and I'm planning to publish at least one in every week until the end of this month.
Actress and variety star Song Ji Hyo is once again the lovely model for YESSE. In this pictorial for the new winter collection, she's smiling brightly as she poses in cute and vibrantly coloured designs, proving that winter fashion doesn't have to be dull nor plain.
As today is T.O.P.-s birthday, I thought it would only be appropriate to celebrate it with his recent photoshoot for L'Officiel Hommes. The birthday boy is as charismatic as ever, looking confident and suave as he poses in chic autumn fashion with that familiar piercing look in his eyes.
It's also good to know that now we will be seeing T.O.P. more often as his upcoming movie The Commitment/Alumni will come out on November 7th. Even better, he will also be make a solo comeback within this month, and all of Big Bang will release a new song before the end of this year.
All I can say is: Happy Birthday, Choi Seung Hyun, I've missed you so, glad you're back!
