This has to be one my favourite recent finds in Youtube.
Apparently, there is an orchestra called Nanyang Polytechnic Chinese Orchestra (NYPCO) that likes K-pop. The conductor of this orchestra is Mike Chiang. NYPCO was formed in 1996, and it has about 155 members today. Their goal has been to break out of traditional modes of Chinese music and perform songs over a range of genres from Chinese, Japanese and Korean pop to Western Classical music. This particular concert series is called K-Attack!, which features songs from well-known K-pop bands. My personal favourite is, of course, their compilation of Big Bang's "Fantastic Baby", "Blue", "Monster" and "Love Song". This video helps to comfort my inner fangirl who, by the way, is getting terribly anxious because of the fact that Big Bang hasn't made a comeback yet.
It was actually harder for me to put together a list of my favourite actresses than of my favourite actors. I guess it's because while I have many actresses that I generally like, I don't love them. Whereas, the number of male actors that I adore seems to be getting bigger and bigger all the time. I wonder if it's because male actors tend to play cooler or more interesting roles in dramas than female actresses.
Yeah, I kinda hate the word „favourite“ because I that implies that I can only have one thing I love. But I have many. See, I’m not usually very choosy with male actors, as long as they look good and give satisfactory performances I will probably like them. But okay, this list below is probably the closest I will get to picking out my favourites, or at least my current favourites. No Taiwanese or Japanese actors here because I'm still rather unfamiliar with most of them. Also, I noticed that there is a serious lack of older actors in this list. I hope it'll change over time, though.
CL who just made her solo debut with "The Baddest Female" proves that she is just that. She displays her fierce attitude and undeniable charisma in a pictorial for GQ magazine, and models in dramatic, almost theatrical costumes in the recent issue of Vogue.
YOUR LEAST FAVOURITE FEMALE CHARACTER IN AN ASIAN DRAMA
Funny thing. When I started writing this post I found it surprisingly hard to answer to this question. I don't watch dramas that have female leads that I don't like at all. And while there have been a lot of bitchy second female leads, my hate for them doesn't usually run so deep. They are annoying, but forgettable. So at first didn't know which character I should write this post about. But then I watched the two latest episodes of You're The Best,Lee Soon Shin and I realized that I already have a character I truly dislike.
Actress Han Ji Min takes on three entirely different photoshoots. She isa completely different person while rocking an edgy pixie cut in this month's Marie Claire. In contrast, she was much more recognizable in an elegant fashion pictorial in last month's issue of SURE. Han Ji Min is also a newly appointed Goodwill Amabassador and recently went on a sightseeing tripto Switzerland with Swiss Friends(Switzerland Tourism Board). Although she is dressed like a casual tourist, she still stands out because of her undeniable beauty.
One of the things I love about K-pop are the awesome dances. Ironically, I'm terrible at dancing myself. But I still like watching other people move the way I can't, and so I occasionally browse Youtube for K-pop dance covers. One of the best ones are from this Vietnamese group called St. 319. Not only are their moves really awesome, but they also try to mimic the atmosphere of the original music video by wearing similar clothes and using different props. They just recently released their new cover for B.A.P.-s "One Shot". Needless to say, it's really good. But I'd also recommend watching their older covers from their Youtube channel, which are equally awesome, and if you're more interested about the crew then check out St. 319's official website. But really, doesn't their talent make you jealous?
Jay Park, who just recently made his comeback with the cool and laid-back "Joah", is featured in NYLON, Marie Claireand K Wave. While he is more serious and contemplative in the first two pictorials, Jay gets his groove on in the K Wave's photoshoot where he shows us his acrobatic dancing ability.
NAME A DRAMA YOU LOOKED FORWARD TO BUT DISAPPOINTED YOU IN THE END
Oh, there have been quite a lot. Many of the dramas I anticipate at first disappoint me in some or another way in the end. But there have been few dramas which I remember being really excited for, but which turned out to be...underachieving.
