By now, I think I have made it clear that Big Bang is pretty much my favourite K-pop group. I like that they have their own sound and actually take part in the production of their songs. G-Dragon is known have composed and written many of their songs, with T.O.P also writing his own rap parts. And for a K-pop group, Big Bang does have quite good song lyrics.
Today, I'm going to discuss "Love Song", which was released in 2011 on their special edition of "Tonight" album. It is not my all-time favourite song from them, but I like the lyrics (and the music video).
Sorry for the late post. I had to skip last week's Melody of Lyrics because of technical issues and today my internet connection has been real slow. So, I'm posting this quite late in the evening.
Anyways, this week's edition is 10cm's "Hold Me/Give Me A Hug", which was released on August 11, 2011. I love 10cm's easy-going musical style and all their songs I'm familiar with have sweet quirky lyrics with a very positive approach. And "Hold Me" is definitely a song with a very lovely message that leaves you all warm inside.
For the third week in a row, I'm going to discuss a drama OST song. This time it's Jung Yong Hwa's (CN Blue) "Because I Miss You" from the 2011 drama Heartstrings. It is a lovely ballad with simple, but moving lyrics. It isn't overly dramatic, but at the same time it really is a touching love song. The song was composed and lyrics written by Yong Hwa himself.
Miss A's Suzy, Yoon Eun Hye and f(x)'s Sulli feature in this month's High Cut, in three very different photoshoots. Suzy's playful and sporty, Eun Hye is classy while promoting new drama Missing You, and Sulli poses in a more romantic atmosphere.
I have loved each of the earlier VIKIcampaigns featuring the beautiful Han Hyo Joo and the winter photoshoot is no exception. With icy blue tones in the background, Hyo Joo looks amazing in the warm-coloured winter fashion.
I love Epik High. While Big Bang might be the male group I actually fangirl over, then Epik High is the Korean group I respect the most. Their music never fails to impress me, from melody to the rapping to the lyrics. So yes, I love them. Which is why I was absolutely thrilled to hear that they were going to release an album. When Tablo signed with YG Entertainment and released his solo work I got worried that Epik High might break up. But upon hearing that the whole group also joined YG I was a happy camper. And now they're out with the new album "99".
I heard "Byul/Star" in the 2006 romcom 200 Pounds Of Beauty where it was sung by Kim Ah Joong. In ways this wonderful ballad reminds me of something that you would usually hear in Japanese romance movies. Not sure why though. I find Ah Joong's shorter version of "Byul" in the movie to be most emotional, but in the official soundtrack it is actually performed by Youme, but with equally beautiful voice.
